Before Reading This, Can You Find John 7:38 In The Old Testament?

There are many people out there, that spend a lot of time, attempting to discredit the Bible. One great example is John 7:38, where Y'shau/Jesus quotes from the Tanakh, the Old Testament. However, a cursory search reveals that it's not in there. It is one among many verses, through which the Atheist and other Non-Beleivers attempt to lead us and our children from the faith.

Is it a misquote and translational error or what?

Well, let's start off by understanding that God’s Word clearly says to consume his Word. Why? Because God’s message is here a little, there a little, line upon line, with wonderful nuggets hidden, rewarding the faithful consumer of his Word, when they are dug out. This is the only way, to gain a full encompassing vision of God’s ways.

For example, Proverbs 10:28 says,

“The Hopeful Expectations of the Righteous and Trusting is Joy; The Expectations of the Ungodly is destruction.”

Also, Isaiah 12:3 says

“Joy draws forth water from wells of salvation.”

Together, we can say that the Joy of a Righteous and Trusting Person, one who is right with God, will draw out a flood of water out of the God’s salvational depository. Salvation is life. Life everlasting. Therefore, wouldn’t the water be both living and undending and abundant? The answer is obviously, Yes.

What we have done here, is taken the Word of God, consumed different parts and spoke a truth, which is not word for word, from the scriptures, but a truthful concept gained from the Whole Counsel of God. This is how the Remnant of God, the Faithful of God, the ones who are right with God speaks out for our Lord and God.

So, when the Apostles do the same thing, in their Gospels and letters, it shows that they has consumed the Word of God and made it thier own, a model for you and me to emulate,in order to be true B’nai Elohim, knowing the Machashabah Elohim, the Thoughts of God, not just regurgitating his Word, word for word, without any meaning.

Now, I drugged you through this exercise to show what we have gained from knowing the whole counsel of God, the Machashabah Elohim, reveling that John 7:37 is indeed in the Tanakh, not a butchering or misquote, as the naysayers would say.

Now, Let’s read John 7:37, from the Word for Word Translation.

“Place your trust in me. According to the scriptures, it says, “From out of wells, flows a flood of living water.”

Doesn’t that sound exactly what we just gained from the Whole Counsel of God? Be a consumer, not a reader. Shalom!

  1. Hi Keith, I don’t remember where I read this, could be from someone quoting C.S. Lewis...the Bible always refers to our joy which is deep and we can even experience in the Lord during times of sorrow. Happiness, on the other hand, is shallow and very transient.

  2. Hi Keith,
you are absolutely right. That Word is a living Word and just as we could not survive and grow physically by eating one bean and one glass of water, neither could we grow Spiritually by just 'reading' a few words. When all are 'consumed', not just 'tasted', we are able to have everlasting life and not just life in this world.

  4. An old German brother once referred me to Proverbs 5: 15-16, "Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well. Thy fountains shall be poured forth, as water-brooks in the broadways". But the whole spirit of the Scriptures is in what the Lord says.

I would appreciate your comment on my latest post!

  5. Hey Susan, it could have been C.S. Lewis. Spurgeon also said something similar in his "Faith's Checkbook".

  6. Hey Brenda, isn't it amazing how the consumers of God's Word are well fed...never wanting?

  7. Hey David, Proverbs 5:5-16 works too. The big problem is the our children are not well versed in the Bible and are falling prey to Satan's followers, who lie and try to lead them astray. I'll come and look at your latest.

  8. There are many related scriptures in the old testament to this verse Keith, a good one in Isaiah ch. 58 v.11, and if God has made Jesus our Lord while we are on earth, (the Word of God made flesh), then every Word of God spoken through the mouth of the One mediator between man and God will prove true.

  9. Hi Keith,
I hope you are ok, it is not like you to be this quiet. I know you are a very busy man, my life has been really busy lately too, but I wanted to get into the discussions regarding the original language and interpretations of the scriptures - which you know a lot about. I don't know if you are still on you tube, but I have lost touch with how to get on your site. (I am pretty useless with much technology):-)
    God bless you and yours.

  13. Jesus was alluding to Isaiah 55 and it was the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles, the 8th day of the Festival. Simcha Torah that is a joyous celebration of God's Word and is characterized by exuberance of expression and rejoicing as is commensurate with the filling/baptism of the Holy Spirit which is likened unto a well springing up from within...all of that is associated with this day and why he said what he did...

  14. Hi Keith,
You said, “There are many people out there, that spend a lot of time, attempting to discredit the Bible.”

Hmmm, I thought that you are one of those who discredit the Bible.

John 7:38 is NOT in the Bible ?
You got ta be kidding Keith.

I think you need to believe the Bible and NOT to discredit the Word of God.

Also, you need to read the Bible, the 66 books and NOT the word for word perversion.
Remember, the Bible is the Word of God, and no other writings are added or quoted to it.

  15. You said, “Because God’s message is here a little, there a little, line upon line, with wonderful nuggets hidden, rewarding the faithful consumer of his Word,”

That’s not what the God of the Bible, the Lord Jesus Christ has said.
He says the opposite to what you are saying.

    Isaiah 28:5,
“So the word of the Lord TO THEM WILL BE,
Order on order, order on order,
Line on line, line on line,
A little here, a little there,
That they may go and stumble backward, be broken, snared and taken captive.”

Yes, that’s what the Bible says !
No hidden nuggets for you my friend.
Read the Bible and don’t try to discredit the Bible.

  16. Hey Sabba, I totally agree. Also, the message can be found in many places. However, there are many naysayers that will not except what you and I are saying unless they see it word for word as quoted.

  17. Paul, with a ll the love and brotherly sentiment that I can muster, I encourage you to take a course in reading for understanding. I didn’t say John 7:38 was not in the Bible. I said it could not be found in the Old Testament.

As for God‘s truth been here a little, they’re a little, that is exactly what the Scriptures say. Check it out. Isaiah 28:10.

I never have or never will discredit nor limit the Bible.

  18. Keith.
A course in reading for understanding ?
What kind of course is that ?

Will they teach me in that course to discredit the Bible ?
Will they teach me that the Name of Jesus Christ is NOT Jesus Christ, but Y'shua Christ ?
Will they teach me in that course that the Name of God is NOT Jesus Christ, but Yahweh ?
Will they teach me in that course of Isaiah 28:10-13 that I will get some nuggets instead of punishment ?

Well, I don’t think so my friend.

You said, “I never have or never will discredit nor limit the Bible.”
    Then DON’T do it !

Stop that Jewish garbage and preach Jesus Christ.
Use Scriptural, Biblical terminologies only from the Bible and don’t blend in stuff from other books.

Keith, I’m NOT against you as you may think, I am for you.

How else can, and will you know, if all others flatter with their lips and support your deception ?

  19. Well my friend,
I always find it amazing when intelligent people can look into my eyes and say that God is two persons or three persons in one God and they don’t even get red in their faces.

    To me, that is phenomenal.
Theologians, professors, doctors, pastors and most Christians have the tenacity to say that they know God and teach about God and don’t even know God’s one and only Name.

To me the epitome of Satan’s deception is when someone says that God is Jehovah or Yahweh and also the Lord Jesus Christ and the two are one.

And don’t laugh, professors of theology make such oxymoronic statements on the media.

I used to think that those people are plainly stupid, just as my Lord, the Lord Jesus Christ has said in Jeremiah 4:22 “For MY people are foolish, They know Me NOT; They are a STUPID children, and have no understanding.”
But then I remembered, that those people have been deceived by the devil, and they have been held captive in Satan’s kingdom against their will.

Father forgive them, for they do not know what they preach and teach.

  20. Keith, if you say that you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ that He is the only God our Savior, (Jude 1:25), then necessity demands from you that you denounce all other gods.

Denounce all other gods means also ‘Yahweh’.
